Surface nailing on Cedar siding putty recommendations

"corrosion resistant" nails were used. I'm sure they were only galvanized.
They were nailed with a nail gun and are countersunk for me.

I saw a dap product that is colored and will take stain. It was called wood Dough.

Does anyone have any experience with Dap Wood Dough?
