Gas Fireplace shuts off after 20 minutes

Gas fireplace main burners shut off with a loud thump after twenty minutes. Had wires replaced about two months to "fix" similar problem. When wall switch is then turned off and turned back on, the burners will NOT light until they cool down (at least that's what it appears to be). Any ideas from the audience? Thanks
