We discovered a pretty serious roof leak after it literally soaked 30 square feet of carpet and extensive area of dry wall from the ceiling and both sides of an interior wall. It looks like the water followed the framing. Bubbles in the latex paint are evident and one can feel dampness even in areas where staining is not yet evident. We do live in Arizona, so have some hope that this will be able to dry before mold sets in. Once we have the leak fixed what steps should we take to protect and preserve the drywall? How do you know when to just replace the drywall vs. clean & paint? What do I do while it is still wet?
