Hope I can chime in on this- I have a dry basement and am considering laying carpet directly onto the concrete. A plan I have under consideration is to first repair and seal all cracks. Then to paint the entire floor with epoxy paint for concrete floors. I am also considering laying 6mil plastic sheeting down before the carpeting. Anyone think that will work? How hard is it to attach tack strips to a concrete floor? Will the carpet layer do that or will they scream?
