I have a ceiling with new 5/8" drywall. I have put fiberglass mesh tape on the joints. I plan to put synthetic stucco on the ceiling with a thick pile roller. Do I need to used drywall joint compound over the mesh tape or can I just put the stucco on as it will fill in the mesh tape and servcer the same purpose as the drywall compound?
