Ok to go through roof. Its best to keep the shortest run. Minimize the number of elbows you are going to use. Use rigid metal ductwork. 26 or 30 gauge is ok. DO NOT use plastic or metal flexible duct they are not the best choice. They have ridges and could cause an accumulation of lint and could cause a fire. Good luck, Mike
