I want to tile my bathroom, there is 3/4" subfloor plus another 1" or so of plywood then linoleum. I know it is recommended to use a concrete backer board but i do not want the floor to be that much higher then the hardwoods in the hall. Can i put the tiles right on the plywood> i have heard as long as i stick to 8" square or smaller tiles it will be ok.
