Why no vinyl siding in Los Angeles

I am considering vinyl siding for my home in Pennsylvania and just returned from Los Angeles. I did not see a single home with vinyl siding in LA, mainly stucco.
My question is simple: Why is ther no vinyl siding in Los Angeles?
