Karen, the answer is a definite maybe. Barring local requirments to the contrary, code says, a 30A circuit (as I assume you have) may have multiple outlets provided no one cord and plug connected appliance is rated at over 80% of the circuit rating (24A in this case). If the existing circuit is 240V only or has no ground, you may be required to add a new circuit rather than extending the old (up to the local authority). The wiring method and installation requirements are also dependant on local regulations. Unless you're motivated to spend time learning how to do this and aquiring the necessary permits, if any, you're probably better off hiring an electrician.
