I have discovered a unique design "feature" in the basement of my house: there are no sill plates!
The floor joists and band joists are in direct contact with the top of the poured concrete foundation. The house has a basement with partial crawlspace under an addition.
My question is whether this is a common building practice? If not, what should I be aware of, and is there anything that can be done retroactively?
