If I were you, I would remove that particle board first and lay down a good plywood sub flooring. Particle board "could" cause you major problems down the road when in contact with "any" water or mositure. This stuff is not good for flooring in any area of the home.
Just my thoughts, have had to rip out too much of this stuff that has been contaminated with water or moisture.
