Gordon, thanks for the comment. Actually, I probably am using the wrong terminology when I say "french drain". Yes, there is already a pipe leading from my sump pump outside (and into a puddle on my front lawn). I have been told of two options to make the lawn puddle go away. 1) dig a hole, fill it with pea gravel, and redirect the water pipe into the hole (this is what I was referring to as a "french drain"); 2) dig a longer trench to the creek that runs through the back end of our yard, making sure the trench has a continual downward slope. I was told by a Home Depot guy that the hole would probably be easier (or just as easy) as the trench (roughly 50 ft). Any thoughts?
