Easy refinishing fix

If the degreaser doesn't work, try making a paste with a detergent such as Tide (no With Bleach). No matter what you try some of the finish will probably come off. Try using a furniture "Scratch cover", they come in light or dark wood formulas. Wipe down cabinets,let dry and then apply your poly right over. I did this on an oak table that needed some help but I didn't feel like spending days on refinishing it. Worked Great!! Try on a scrap first to make sure you like it.
