Ditra is an uncoupling, waterproofing, and vapor pressure equalization layer. I never said it was used to 'strengthen' my subfloor. My floor was already solid.
Since I don't have that 'every day' experience like you do, I can only go by what I read concerning the backer board while I did my research before doing mine. Consistantly the information said if the floor wasn't already sound, the backerboard wasn't going to correct the problem. I know what I meant by "strength" but apparently I wasn't clear. I'm sorry if you misunderstood :)
