I think I understand what you are asking but the answer won't translate tell you how many boards to buy. I don't think your plans call for lumber that is cut in standard dimensions as is lumber for a deck.
What you'll find is lumber in varying widths and lengths. You will need to trim this lumber into the dimensions you need to build your boat. The number of boards you buy will vary because the amount of waste will vary for each board. For example, lets say you need boards that are 4" wide. A board that is 11-1/2" wide will yield 2 4" boards and a lot of waste. A board 25+" wide will yield about six 4" wide boards and very little waste.
Remember to account for the width of the saw blade. Also most of these boards are tapered, not true rectangles. ie) the top is wider than the bottom.
