Hi Cduhamel Whenever an exterior door is set in new construction,we set it 3/4" higher than the subfloor.This is to allow for what ever finish floor is to be installed plus room for the door to swing without rubbing a throwrug that might be put on the finish floor.As far as the ext.go with what Ron J.said and don't forget the flashing and a healthy bead of calk under the threshold before you set the door.Luck
