...but Steve doesn't sound like he has done much finish carpentry. Use a sliding t-bevel to accurately measure the angle on the wall and then use it to set the angle on the saw blade. If you are hand mitering, then pencil the angle from the t-bevel onto the work piece and then cut freehand slowly.
