Deck railing - is Plexiglass acceptable per code?

Hi folks! I have a garage-top deck that I need to put a new railing on. I'd like something more contemporary and less obtrusive than wood balusters.

Does anyone know if Plexiglass panels (supported between posts) would be rigid enough for safety? Is it acceptable under Code?

Any suggestions on thickness, spans, etc? Do I need to reinforce the Plexiglass with metal/wood supports on top and bottom of the panel, between the posts?
Does Plexiglass yellow or degrade in sunlight?

(Jason, you've probably seen alot of variations; do you have any suggestions on what might work and still be safe? Thanks!)
