Thermostat

The old thermostat didn't have any sort of clock or timer. It was an old Nordyne w/ murcury tubes to control the heat and air. Unfortunately, they quit making the model I had. It had 7 wire hookup w/ 3 wires that weren't hooked up. (10 wires in all) The new one is a 4- 5 wire hook up. I've asked neighbors and friends, and they don't know. One friend had worked w/ an electrition and knew how to read schematics, but still couldn't figure it out. My wire colors don't match the color code on the schematics that came w/ my system. Needless to say I'm lost...
