I'm not sure if anyone can help me without seeing the problem but I'm going to do my best to describe it. The problem I have is termites eating my basement stairs. One step has been affected but I'm not sure of hidden damage. I just bought this house and am moving my washer and dryer down the steps this weekend so I need a quick fix if possible. The damage is to the block under the step that I guess you could say braces the stair. Its about 3inches by 5 inches. There is also damage around that stair to the piece of wood that runs the length of the staircase that the stairs and "braces" are attached to. does this make sense to anyone? Any ideas? Also who would I call to get this fixed? This is my first house so I dont have a landlord to call anymore. Thank for anyone's help.
