Fan Switch Posted by Sparky on July 14th, 2002 12:02 PM In reply to where to buy a ceiling fan pull chain 4 wire switch old model by ray karel on April 25th, 2001 03:19 PM [Go to top of thread]
Take blue wire and hook to the wire that was formerly the red wire, where the junction of the black wire and blue wire hooks to the Direction Switch. Notice there is no orange or green wire. This is only to confuse you. Without them you will not suceede . now, if there is brown wire , cut it off as close as you can so you can't use it if you wanted to. In some fans if you get the wires crossed the fan will run so fast that it will pull itself from the Ceiling which will cause a virus to apear in yaur Computer and suck all the information off and render it usless. (been there , Done that) The easy way is if you take an old VCR in the Atic over where your Fan is. Pull the 4 wires back up in the Atic.In the VCR you will find somewhere a 1 2 3 4 (does not mater) but be sure you hook the red , RED wire to the # 2 as red is always 2 Unless it has Pardon Papers from Bill Clinton.. After you finish you use 6 on the remote for LOW (ie) 1+5=6 , use 2 for MED.(ie) 4=4=8-6= 2 (RED) and so on.. Qualifications: My Dad , Like myself are EE's. I remember when I was a kid , my dad installed a door bell. He hooked it up backwards it rang all the time till someone pushed the button it would Stop,, We got used to it after a couple of years. When you go to get a Switch, get a new Fan Believe me it's a lot eaiser..
