Hi Liz,

Assuming the source of the leakage has been located and corrected, you may try the following...

If the ceiling is unpainted try a bleach solution of one part bleach to two parts distilled water. Place this in a small plastic hand pump sprayer and lightly coat the stain. It may take a few applications, but this is a widely used "trick" in the painting profession. BE SURE TO COVER ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO BLEACH INCLUDING THE FLOOR! Also, don't attempt to wipe the ceiling with anything or you will be looking at a popcorn floor...great nonskid surface , but it wont make the fashion magazines.
