would suggest that they were first stained then sealed. Removing the darker stain would entail quite a job. you would first have to get through the sealant then to the stain and I am sure that the stain has soaked in to quite a depth in the logs.
I would live with it or install paneling over the logs to the color you want. This is an easy job, but would remove the nice look of the logs from inside.
