I'd like to get some guidelines on using an impact wrench before I snap a few nuts and bolts. My first task is dealing with a nut > 1" that needs 250 ft/lbs. I feel safe here. However, how does this compare against using it on a 1/2" or 13/16" nut? The wrench I just bought says it is capable of 25-400 ft/lbs of torque. The controls are simple. One reverse speed. I assume operates at 400 ft/lbs. Three generic forward speeds: 1, 2, 3. The instructs don't give any approximate torque settings for these three speeds. The instructions on the impact wrench I bought say to tighen the nut down. Use the wrench on the lowest of the 3 settings. Then, increase the settings as the nut continues to turn.
