contractors and subs

I am planning on having some remodeling done on my house and want to know if there is any such thing as one contractor doing all of the projects or should I plan to get several contractors? The remodeling will involve adding central air and heat. Removing and old bathtub and putting in a new one with work done to the walls. Redoing the kitchen and a whole lot of painting.
