grout removal

I am in desperate need to find out how to remove excess grout from ceramic tile. I let my son in law and father tile the walls and floor in my bathroom and they got too much grout in cracks and on the wall. We have tried everything that we have heard of to remove it but with no success. Every day it stays there it gets harder and harder. I am open to any suggestions - Please.
