Installing Dry Wall/Dropped Ceiling

We are having our basement finished this weekend, but I must decide now whether to go with dry wall or a dropped ceiling. I prefer the dry wall, since it will cost us quite a bit less. We still will be able to see the pipes/electical through the utility room so could identify problem if they should occur in the future. Am I taking too big of a risk?
