I would take pictures, document all conversations and written documents, get everything in order for a litigation of sorts. This as you know should not have happened, and probably the problem is NOT the material itself, its more than likely the installers fault. The reasons have been given by other posters.
Prepare your self for the excuse, "its not my fault". You do not care who's fault it is, you just want it fixed.
