J. J. has some good advise about checking with the proper departments before you do anything!

Now, if you want to go over it, you need to do the same as far as checking with your local inspection deartment.

The key to going over it is using a insulation over it (like 3/8" fan fold) to entrap the asbestos when it brakes.

You will also have to use 3" galvanized roofing nails to install the vinyl siding.

The question you will have to ask yourself is, what the resale value will be when you have to disclose the asbestos before selling the house?
