Jay J. - Moderator your answers to the thread were excellent but I still have a question. Most of the thread refers to "tiles" and my floor is not tiles but rather sheet vinyl adhered directly down to concrete - there is no underlayment to be removed. Assuming the safe approach is to "assume" asbestos could be in the flooring what would be the recommended way to remove the sheet vinyl? The house wasn't built till 1980 and the floor already has two layers of vinyl flooring. I want to have the laminate plank type flooring installed and prefer the old stuff be removed. Installers are reluctant and make all kinds of "excuses" why they don't "need" to remove the old stuff. Seems sloppy to me and your statement about explaining to a future prospective buyer is exactly one of my concerns.
