I have replaced alot of OLD wood doors with metal insulated,and even fiberglass woodgrain,ready to paint or stain as you like,but the doors don't fit the old jambs.So the old jamb and door go in the trash and a new pre-hung unit goes in.In my area (Chgo.)Iwould charge $250.00and up for installation depending on exterior(brick-siding)and interior(will trim cover drywall?)I have found that the new metal pre-hungs are usually 3/4 of an inch shorter than the old door opening.Yes H.D. has many doors to chose from,the style of door you want will set the price.And believe me,your gender has nothing to do with your being confused!
