Here it goes Posted by Moderator, Steve on September 23rd, 2002 04:25 PM In reply to Door Repairs by D. Carter on September 22nd, 2002 09:31 PM [Go to top of thread]
I would only consider a door frame kit. These are much better than someone trying to install a door slab into the existing hole. A kit includes the two door jambs, the over head and the threshold all in tact. The HOLES do come drilled. A door like this, being a six panel steel skined door will run about $150, I charge $125 to install the new door and of course remove the old. That does not include the painting. Its about a 3 hour job. Now, I know for a fact that Home Depot charges $250 for installation. This is a big rip off.
There are people out there that do not charge that much BUT you do want a person that has experience in this. A mis installed door is a big headache.
Please heed my suggestion, do not have just the door slab replaced, do the whole nine yards, it makes for a much more effecient swinging door.
