I have been struggling to remove old wallpaper from my home. Problem being that the wallpaper has been glued onto the drywall which has no primer on it. I peeled the first layer off the wallpaper, leaving the paperbacking and glue on the wall. I used a product called DIF to try to remove the paperbacking and glue. To my horror the backing is glued to cardboard, or what I will describe as raw drywall. To peel all the backing off will peel layers of the drywall off. Should I just prime the wall, mud any uneven spots, prime again and then paint??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
