I'm starting to get requests for bids here and there for miscellaneous jobs from deck building to refinishing floors to replacing rotted window parts. I like doing this stuff, but have no idea what to charge people for my time. I'm not a professional, and so don't want to charge as such, but want my percentage to be fair to both myself and the customer. At this stage, I figured I would bid cost plus, expecting that it may take me twice as long as a professional. What percentage should I be using to bid jobs, and does it change based on the job? Any advice at all would be much appreciated!
