I am installing the hardy plank 8X12 ft. boards, on my top gable i have some 3/4 flat board siding on the gable it dead ends to ceader shakes on the bottom of house, hardy is just going over the borad siding at the top of gable. On my first board should I have a 1/4 strip on my first run to kick it out or is it not nessary should I nail it flat.
