Hi Liz,

Hope you get this...haven't been on the "Ol Web" lately. Well, the answer is no; bleaching will not work on a painted ceiling. It will be necessary to spray it with a white vinyl ceiling paint. I don't recommend rolling it due to the risk of pulling the texture off as you apply the roller. If you wish to try rolling, test roll a very small area first. It sounds like you haven't had the opportunity to rent or use a sprayer. (This could be a job for a pro.) If you still want to attempt the job, I'll be happy to "talk you through it".
