removing silicone from tile

How can I get strips of silicone off of my bathroom tile walls? The silicone was there for holding a Dispenser on the wall, but I need to get the back bracket off the tile in order to install a new Dispenser because I broke the actual dispensing unit that fits onto the front of the back bracket, and now I can't get the silicone off the tile. I wonder if I should use a utility knife, Goo-Gone or what? Thank you.
