Bob I have a contract on a home that is using pressed board the type that is on the outside of the house as a joist for the flooring system. The builder calls it an I-Truss system for a quiet floor but my ex-husband says it his way of cutting corner to keep his cost down. He has taken pressed wood about an inch thick and sandwiched it between a 2X4 that has been cut in half and run them 12 inches apart under the flooring. Is this durable and am I making a mistake with this house. Please inform on the durability of this product. There is also some on the catwalk , on the staircase and in between the second floor and first floor.
