I did that just this summer on a little 36" round table for my kindergarten. First, sand it with a jitterbug sander really well. Prime it with Kilz, lightly sand again and then use a tack rag. I painted mine with Sherwin Williams latex satin paint and then sealed it with Duramax satin latex Clear Protector from Lowes. It is important that u you use a non-yellowing finish. Good luck!
