I have begun remodeling a 1/2 bath. I am ripping out current drywall and will be tiling 1/2 the wall. The floor is a cement slab and has vinyl tiles.
My questions are the following:
1) I am in the process of removing the vinyl floor. Tiles are coming up but the glue is going to be tough. Will thinset adhere to the glue residue and if I can get it fairly smooth will the thin setact as a floor levelor for some spots.
2) Since I am on bare studs there have been questions as to whether or not Green board, (moisture resistant), is strong enough for this application. Is it worth mixing the cement board on the bottom 1/2 of the wall and green board or standard drywall on top.
3) Anything else that would be a common pitfall for this job would be helpful.
