The house I just moved into had a plastic dryer vent running into the ceiling and out through an overhanging soffit. The home inspector listed this as a potential fire hazard. The problem now is that to vent the dryer properly (through the wall with rigid aluminum pipe) I need to drill a 4" diameter hole through the outside wall which consists of an 8" concrete block and an approximately 3" wide brick facing. The wall is in very good shape with no cracking, etc. Can this be done without altering the structural integrity of the wall? What tools do I need and how do I go about doing this? Thanks.
