Take the cover off the ends and look to see if the tubing is tight against the floor where the tubing passes through. When tubing rubs against a beam or board, it ticks or knocks as the tubing is grabbed by the wood and then releases as it expands. Expanding the hole might give enough clearance to stop the binding and release.
