Get a dehumidifier that has enough capacity to keep the relative humidity below 50%. Wal-Mart has a relative humdity meter for $15. I suggest 50 pints of dehumidification capacity per thousand square feet of basement with auto drain. Check EPA's website for effeciency rating. There is a big difference in effeciency.
