I live in Dallas, Texas, owned a home in East Texas, Longview to be precise.

The soils in East and West Texas contain NO clay and are about the most stable soils in the state. Sand is an excellent substrate for any foundation.

My two cents worth to you would be to build a slab foundation with cable lock system. You should be fine in those conditions.
