Goof off works verry well. paint thinner will remove your finish. I don't know how much to sand. You may not have to sand just reaply finish. they have finish renewal products at the hardware store. I'm currently scraping my floor with a putty knife. some of the finish has come up but I am going to try the refinish stuff. well back to scraping.
