My roommate and I just moved into a newer duplex in the pacific northwest. As winter draws nearer we have noticed our new home isn't holding the heat...rather letting it all out. It's like an ice box. We think the windows are only single pained. We covered the fireplace with a styrofoam board (silica?) thinking the cold draft was caused from the fire place. However it's still cold! Any tips or advice? Will thermal curtains work or can we do any kind of window and joint treatment to a rental that isn't permanent?! Help! Umm also, the styrofoam insulation board has one reflective side...should it be facing in or out?!
Thanks, Ann
