The best way to go now is a thick and strong vunyl window which is reinforced at the weak points such as the meeting rails and sill. Yes the prices vary greatly from less than $200 to over $1000 per window. You van buys a very nice installed product in the $600 dollar per unit range and not have to worry about replacing your replacement windows later. Hope this helps.
