What are the differences between Mitre Saws

Hi,
I am looking at different Mitre Saws for occasional home improvement use but am a bit confused by the different types out there. What is the difference between, Straight cut, Compound, radial arm and Cross cut mitre saws and are they best used in different situations ??.
