Have the regulator checked. Our log smelled excessivly and it turned out to be a bad regulator. However, once it was repaired and everything was working properly, we still had a slight odor. I've found that this is the norm with Propane logs. I've come to accept that some odor has to be accepted if your going to use this type of animal. Given the opportunity to do it over, I wouldn't by another ventless log.
