I recently had a new Epoch deck installed by a Custom Deck Company and as they nailed the planks, I noticed they were not leaving a gap between them...as the instructions for proper installation stated...I explained this to the installer and he said: I've been installing decks for many years and it is not necessary to leave this gap...We argued and he was so convinced he was right that he doubled my warranty (2 years). He's only been gone for a week and the boards are already swelling & contracting....Advice: Make them install it correctly or don't let them install it at all.
I should have stopped them right at the begining.
I'm contacting the Epoch Rep. and if he agrees that it was installed incorrectly....To the courtroom we go!
